STMK Gift Box
Sometimes one wants to share beauty, to discuss it, but there's no right place for it. Facebook isn't what it used to be, Instagram is for something else, and there are no comments or discussions on the website. So let it be here! I'm launching a #ревю (#review) category, in which I'll share beauty and discuss why I find it beautiful.
Comence has released a new case, the STMK Gift Box, which is appreciated for its understated design and impeccable presentation. This is not the first project the studio has worked on with this client, and they clearly have a strong aesthetic and material match.
The case leaves an impression of unity between the material (order) and the product. The boxes, the selection of materials, the photo shoot—all echo and rhyme with the geometry of the concrete and buildings. The bare walls, the engineered framework, and the backstage footage in the presentation—all tell a story about the construction.
The title cards are assembled into architectural compositions, creating an impression of monumentality, which suits the project.
The typography contains rhyme in the details — a monospaced font is used, and in lists, the last line is always blank, leaving only a hanging bullet. Therefore, even short lists form a forceful line of dots, supporting the technological properties of concrete.
And while it's increasingly common to see behind-the-scenes footage from filming or production in case studies, this case particularly benefits from such photo material — it supports the theme of the building's structure and load-bearing elements. The handwritten font and photos of people lend a humanistic feel to the otherwise neutral project, as everything hinges not only on the engineering structure but, first and foremost, on the team and the people.
